Motorcycles for Missions
Last year, while I was in Uganda I was greatly moved by the way that pastors walked hundreds of miles and days on end to come to a conference and crusade that I was honored to minister at. Not only did these men of God come a long distance for meetings but this is how they live their lives as many of them oversee churches,
orphanages, and schools.
As I watched the dedication of these amazing people and their willingness to sacrifice and as I spoke and prayed with others who have a heart for missions the Lord placed a phrase in my heart: “Motorcycles for Missions”.
While researching the idea I was shocked to find that I could purchase a brand new motor bike in Uganda, Kenya, and Mozambique for only $1,500 USD. This cost covers the motorcycle itself, a helmet, safety vest, tag, title, and first month’s insurance.
This motorcycle will not only give pastors the ability to minister with great effectiveness, but it could also possibly generate income for the pastors and their ministry as a taxi.
During 2010 I started believing God to provide for 5 motorcycles for ministries I have relationship with. He responded to that faith and desire and we will be
delivering those motorcycles the
last week of February.
My hearts desire is to equip pastors, leaders, and believers to minister at their full potential. This project is one more way to help them reach the multitudes around the world.
For instance, one of these first motorcycles is going to Pastor Solomon who works among the Masai Tribe in the Masai Mara region of Kenya. He oversees 50 churches and has to spend many nights away from his wife and children because of the great distances he has to travel. This motorcycle will allow him to minister to more people while also enabling him to have more time with his family.
Another one is being given to Abby and his wife. They oversee projects with Crusades international. They serve, teach, and minister in music throughout Uganda. Pastor John has 50 churches that he is responsible for in Uganda. They feed the poor and care for orphans and widows in addition to his pastoral responsibilities. He will use his motorcycle for ministry travel and will also employ one of his leaders to use the it as a taxi whenever possible.
Pastor Steve Mayanja of World Outreach Missions Foundation will also be a recipient of one of these gifts. Steve Mayanja is the senior Pastor of Jesus Loves You Ministry Centre in the Seguku District of Kampala, Uganda. In addition he is the chancellor of a bible college for pastors and leaders from 9 nations throughout Africa. They have a children’s home, christian school k-12, and do many bush outreaches throughout Uganda and Sudan.
Finally, there is a missions organization called Rowan which stands for Rural Orphans Widows Aids Network. This Christian
organization is overseen by
Kelsey Young from the U.S. She has laid down her life for the gospel of Jesus Christ and does an amazing job helping the
poorest of the poor.
